Tom's Awesome Cooking Recommendation:

Heat skillet to 450 degrees, bring filet mignon to room temperature, light coat of olive oil, salt and pepper, cook 5 minutes, turn and cook 4 minutes. Let sit 5 minutes for medium rare.
